On May 18, 2026, Tsinghua Unigroup and BAIC Group held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony in Beijing. Seizing the opportunity presented by the intelligent transformation of the automotive industry, the two parties will carry out comprehensive and in-depth cooperation across such areas as breakthroughs in core technologies, joint product development, industrial investment coordination and industry ecosystem development, working together to accelerate China's automotive industry as it advances toward intelligent mobility.
At the signing ceremony, the relevant entities under both sides signed two specific cooperation agreements focusing on key cooperation areas. Unichasing and UNISOC, both under Tsinghua Unigroup, signed a cooperation agreement with Beijing Automotive Research Institute Co., Ltd. under BAIC Group on an intelligent cockpit all-in-one machine project. Building on the technology accumulated within the Unigroup ecosystem in communications, computing and cockpit SoCs, together with BAIC Research Institute's vehicle definition capabilities, the parties will work in close synergy to create a localized cockpit solution for next-generation intelligent vehicles. OT Company, a Tsinghua Unigroup subsidiary engaged in advanced semiconductor R&D, and Beijing Automotive Group Industrial Investment Co., Ltd. (BAIC Capital) under BAIC Group reached cooperation intentions on investment in OT and on the development of new-architecture edge AI chips, with follow-up work to be advanced steadily in accordance with the respective procedures of both parties.
Prior to the signing, Li Bin, Chairman of Tsinghua Unigroup, accompanied Zhang Jianyong, Secretary of the CPC Committee and Chairman of BAIC Group, and his delegation on a tour of the Tsinghua Unigroup exhibition hall, where they gained a comprehensive view of the Group's latest innovation achievements in IC, ICT and AI. The two sides then held in-depth discussions on key cooperation topics.
During the talks, the two sides held extensive exchanges on a number of topics, including intelligent cockpit SoCs, automotive-grade MCUs, high-computing-power automotive-grade chips for advanced intelligent driving, localized in-vehicle solutions and the joint development of in-vehicle AI terminals, as well as industrial investment coordination, and reached consensus on the working mechanisms for translating the cooperation into concrete results. At the close of the talks, both sides agreed to accelerate the implementation of all cooperation initiatives through mechanisms such as the joint establishment of a joint engineering center and the formation of dedicated working groups, and to continue broadening and deepening their cooperation with this strategic partnership as the starting point.
